A good, tiring day
Started at midnight with my first bout of writing for NaNo -1200 words roughly. Then it continued around 6 a.m., when I finally gave up trying to sleep (woke up around 5ish) and got up to do some more preparation for the kick-off party. Hubby to work by 7:30, Boy #2 to the school for Youth Court Training (I made arrangements for him to be brought home by his teacher). In between, a stop at Spill the Beans for coffee and a chat with the owner. Upshot - we have write-ins scheduled for two-three Mondays this month. Then more work on the kick-off materials until the very last minute. Shoved off with Boy #1 in tow - and had to come back for my NaNo shirt! Then on to Panera.
Where I was told by an employee that they don't usually reserve the Tower room before 5. Guess somebody forgot to tell the manager I talked with that. But we finally got in there and had a good kick off. 13 people, including me (but not including Boy #1). The goodie bags were well-received, the brainstorming exercise we did was also considered cool. It's nice to know what other people are writing.
Now I'm sitting on my bed, trying not to fall asleep over the laptop, which I'm still getting used to. I can't use the lap desk like everyone else does; too much belly and not enough lap. But I can sit cross-legged and put it on my feet, or lay it on the bed or something similar. I ended up with over 2K words for the day - not enough to catch my counterpart in Spartanburg.
I'll check a few more websites, and likely do some more chatting with Lille. Then collapse into bed with a job well done.
