Well, it's official....
Mar. 8th, 2005 02:14 pmI am officially a diabetic. Early Type 2 diabetes. The doctor did a test last week that tracked my blood sugar for three months and it came up 0.2 over the high end of normal. So I'll be trying to control this with diet alone and see how it goes. The foot is healing up nicely though the skin of the bottom of my foot is peeling like crazy. I go back to see the vascular surgeon in a month (note to self: make the appointment) and I'll see my regular doctor in three months to see how I'm doing with the diabetes.
Unfortunately, the Diabetes program at the Life Center can't see me until April 19th. I'm told it's an all-day class, from 8:30 to 4:30. I want Hubby to take the day off and come with me since he's the one who does most of the cooking for the family. This at least gives him time to request the day off. Until then, we're trying out a lot of diet products that are sweetened with Nutrasweet or Splenda. So far the sodas are okay; diet Cherry 7-Up is particularly good. I'm trying to keep from eating a lot of sweets and snacking on fruit or other relatively healthy things during the day.
Not much else to tell. Serendipity chapter 21 has been giving me fits, but I think I see my way clear now. Just have to write it. C. has been drawing lately; she's done portraits of Lou from Serendipity and each of the Tracy girls from Turnabout. I love her style, and I've posted them at IR:TNP. I've also done some editing and updating at Thunderbirds World, including a new set of Site Awards. I'll have to try and come up with some sort of certificate for awards. I've been trying to put my fics back up on Thunderfan's archive, since it's finally back online. My friends online are rallying around me, for which I am very, very grateful.
My parents are coming down this month over spring break. I've got to get moving on cleaning up the house a little bit per day so I'm not stuck with the old "stash and dash" the night before they arrive. The kids should be able to help me out here, and Hubby, I hope. More on that later.
