30 day TV meme - Day 7

Thunderbirds: Edge of Impact
This does have a lot going for it. We're introduced to Tim Casey, an old friend of Jeff's, and we see what convolutions Jeff is willing to go through in order to keep IR secret (scuba diving for water mambas--whatever those are). We get to see the Tracy brothers covered in rain. But IR really does so little in this episode They discover the homing beacon, they get to the tower... and what do they do? Do they use the rescue platform to pull the two guys out of the tower? Do they try to shore it up? No, they bring out the Booster Mortar (which could be a very useful piece of equipment) and shoot rocket packs up to the guys!! The two men in the collapsing broadcast tower have to rescue themselves, with very little help from IR. It's more about stopping the sabotage (which doesn't really have any point) and reinstating Casey as a project director than a rescue. So... yeah. It's annoying.

Date: 2010-06-21 08:22 pm (UTC)The episode did have a lot of potential especially as it was more personal, bringing in faces from the Tracy family's past; namely, a family friend. I also rather randomly liked the fact that we got to see the "Operation Cover-Up" pictures in action. There was something very human about the episode as a whole; the death at the beginning, the friendship between Jeff and Tim and the interaction between the boys.
But I've always felt that the rescue was very simple; heck didn't they break the window when they sent the packs up to Jim and Stan! That was actually pretty dangerous!
So yeah - started well and then just teetered around a bit. The Hood was quite creepy though.
